# Add the missing teaching step

The neighboring slides, one learning point and the source excerpt.

Updated October 27, 2026

## Adding one slide to a deck, in short

Adding a slide fills one missing teaching step in an existing presentation, for example a point about when to stop and call the supervisor between an introduction and hands-on practice. It serves safety coordinators and trainers who spot a gap in a deck and do not want to rebuild it. You give one learning point and a source excerpt; Elvina drafts a single slide in the deck’s theme, with speaker notes naming the source. Editing slides by hand and approval before the deck is released are available now.

## What happens on the free demo

- Book 30 minutes. Pick a time with Elvina's team. The demo is free and runs on Zoom.
- Show the team your goal. Bring one role or one procedure. The team shows how Elvina would handle it, using sample materials.
- Agree on the next step. You leave with a plan for the first step and its price. Nothing reaches your team until you approve it.

## Who this is for, and when

A safety coordinator at a metal fabrication shop reviews a press brake deck and finds it jumps from introduction straight to practice. The step that matters most, when to stop and ask the supervisor, is missing. He needs one clear slide in the right place, cited to the work instruction, without rebuilding the deck.

## How it works in Elvina

A slide between introduction and practice explains when to stop and ask the supervisor.

- Open the presentation in Creation Studio, select the slide before the gap, and choose Add slide.
- Provide the single learning point and the source excerpt from Company Knowledge.
- Elvina drafts one slide in the deck's theme with a title, three short bullets and speaker notes that cite the source.
- Trim the bullets, check contrast, and move the slide if the position is off.
- Approve the deck; the Learning Platform shows the updated version after review.

## A worked example

A fictional shop, Ironbridge Fabrication, has a twelve-slide deck called Press Brake Basics. The safety coordinator adds a Stop and Ask slide between slides 4 and 5, citing Press Brake Work Instruction WI-114, step 6. The source excerpt lists three conditions that require a supervisor.

- New slide 5 lists three stop conditions in the same order as WI-114.
- Speaker notes name the work instruction and step number.
- The shop supervisor removed one redundant bullet, and the deck grew to thirteen slides.

## What to check before relying on it

Check reading order, contrast and source fidelity. One slide should not become a dense transcript.

- The slide follows the same order as the source excerpt.
- Text contrast passes on the deck's background.
- No bullet runs longer than twelve words.
- The citation appears in the speaker notes.
- No other slide in the deck was altered.

## Where a person stays in charge

One slide per operation, drafted from the excerpt you provide. Elvina does not generate imagery here or renumber references in other documents that point to slide positions. A person approves the result. If the deck feeds a narrated video, confirm narration timing before re-exporting.

## Who this is not for, and when another tool fits

### This is not the right fit if

- You need several new slides of images or diagrams designed from scratch.
- You want the whole deck rewritten rather than one gap filled.
- Nobody can supply the source excerpt the slide should follow.

### Another kind of tool may fit better

- Your current authoring tool, if one designer already builds every course by hand and the team is happy with it.
- A shared drive, when people only need to find a file rather than learn a task.

## Questions

**Q:** Can I add several slides at once?

Add them one at a time so each carries its own source citation and review.

**Q:** Will the new slide match our template?

It inherits the deck's theme, fonts and colors. Check contrast if your template uses a dark background.

**Q:** What if I placed it in the wrong spot?

Use reorder-slides to move it. Numbering and notes follow the slide.
