# Understand the latest learning events

An authorized workspace, time window, event types and timezone.

Updated October 27, 2026

## Recent learning events, in short

Recent learning events are the raw timeline behind any summary: each assignment created, lesson opened or assessment submitted, listed on its own with a time in the timezone you choose. Learning operations analysts and managers read it when someone reports a problem and they want facts before escalating to IT. Retries and duplicates stay visible instead of being folded together. The Web workspace, assignments and the progress records the timeline draws on are available now. Asking follow-up questions about it in chat is planned, not available today.

## What happens on the free demo

- Book 30 minutes. Pick a time with Elvina's team. The demo is free and runs on Zoom.
- Show the team your goal. Bring one role or one procedure. The team shows how Elvina would handle it, using sample materials.
- Agree on the next step. You leave with a plan for the first step and its price. Nothing reaches your team until you approve it.

## Who this is for, and when

A learning operations analyst at a regional credit union gets a Friday message from a branch manager: nobody can open the new compliance lesson. Before escalating to IT, he wants the raw event timeline for the last 24 hours, in the branch's timezone, rather than a summary that hides retries and duplicates.

## How it works in Elvina

A timeline separates assignment created, lesson opened and assessment submitted, each with an event time.

- In the Web workspace, open Analytics and choose Recent events.
- Set the window, the timezone and the event types you care about.
- Elvina returns a timeline where assignment created, lesson opened and assessment submitted stay separate, each with its event time.
- Filter to one group or object, then export or share the view with the reviewer.
- Follow-up questions in Chat are planned, not available today; for now, tighten the filters and rerun the timeline.

## A worked example

A fictional institution, Lakeshore Federal Credit Union, has nine branches and a lesson called BSA Refresher 2026. The analyst sets the window from Thursday 8:00 a.m. to Friday 8:00 a.m. Central and selects three event types.

- The timeline listed 41 assignment-created, 37 lesson-opened and 12 assessment-submitted events.
- Three duplicate retries from one learner were visible instead of being collapsed.
- Nothing pointed to an access failure; the branch complaint traced back to an expired link in an email.

## What to check before relying on it

Late events and duplicate retries can distort order. Opening a lesson does not mean completing it.

- Every event shows a timestamp in the chosen timezone.
- Event types are never merged into one row.
- Duplicate retries appear as separate entries.
- The view respects the analyst's learner scope.
- The refresh time is printed on the export.

## Where a person stays in charge

Elvina shows events it recorded; it does not see activity in systems that are not connected. Opening a lesson is not completion, and late-arriving events can appear out of order. A person interprets the timeline. Confirm the retention window and timezone handling for your live environment.

## Who this is not for, and when another tool fits

### This is not the right fit if

- The activity you need happened in a system that is not connected.
- You want a timeline to prove someone completed or understood a lesson.
- You need a board-level summary rather than individual events.

### Another kind of tool may fit better

- Your IT help desk or email logs, when the failure sits outside the learning workspace.
- A business intelligence tool, when learning data must be joined with sales or HR figures.

## Questions

**Q:** Why does an event appear out of order?

Events are ordered by event time, but some arrive late. Sort by received time to see arrival order.

**Q:** Can I see events for one learner only?

Yes, if your role is permitted to view learner-level data. Otherwise the filter is limited to groups.

**Q:** How far back can I look?

That depends on the retention configured for your workspace; check with your administrator.
