# Generate a lesson draft from one approved resource

An approved source excerpt, audience and required output format.

Updated October 27, 2026

## Build a focused draft from a source

Generating from a resource turns one approved source excerpt, such as a section of a refund policy, into a short draft for a named audience: a lesson, a decision tree and a question, each citing the source version. Customer service and operations managers use it when the policy is settled but nobody has time to write. Where the excerpt is silent, the draft says so instead of guessing. Lessons, quizzes and job aids drafted from Company Knowledge are available now. Every line is compared with the source before approval.

## What happens on the free demo

- Book 30 minutes. Pick a time with Elvina's team. The demo is free and runs on Zoom.
- Show the team your goal. Bring one role or one procedure. The team shows how Elvina would handle it, using sample materials.
- Agree on the next step. You leave with a plan for the first step and its price. Nothing reaches your team until you approve it.

## Who this is for, and when

A customer service manager at an online mattress retailer needs new agents to handle refunds correctly by Monday. The policy is approved and sits in Company Knowledge, but nobody has time to write a lesson. She wants a short draft with a decision tree and one question, and she wants gaps flagged instead of filled with guesses.

## How it works in Elvina

A refund procedure becomes a short lesson with a decision tree and a question about escalation limits.

- Select the approved excerpt in Company Knowledge and choose Generate in Creation Studio.
- Name the audience and the output format, for example a ten-minute lesson.
- Elvina drafts the lesson, a decision tree and a question, citing the source version, and flags details the excerpt does not cover.
- Check each instruction against the source, resolve the flags with the policy owner, and approve.

## A worked example

A fictional retailer, Restwell Sleep Co., uses section 4 of Refund and Return Policy v5 as the source. The manager requests a ten-minute lesson for new support agents covering when a refund is automatic, when it needs a supervisor and what the escalation limit is.

- The draft contained three sections, a decision tree with four branches and one question on escalation limits.
- Elvina flagged that the excerpt did not define partial refunds, and the policy owner added a paragraph before approval.
- Every instruction in the lesson traces to a sentence in section 4.

## What to check before relying on it

Check every instruction against the source. Flag missing policy details instead of generating a plausible policy.

- Each instruction can be traced to the source excerpt.
- Gaps are flagged rather than filled.
- The question is answerable from the lesson alone.
- Tone and depth fit the named audience.
- The source version is cited in the lesson metadata.

## Where a person stays in charge

Elvina does not write policy or pull from sources that are not approved in Company Knowledge. When the excerpt is silent on a case, the draft says so. A person compares every line to the source and approves before anything is assigned on the Learning Platform. Confirm the policy version is current with its owner.

## Who this is not for, and when another tool fits

### This is not the right fit if

- The policy is not approved yet and you hope the draft will settle it.
- You want content pulled from sources nobody has approved.
- You need a long course built from many unrelated documents in one go.

### Another kind of tool may fit better

- Your current authoring tool, if one designer already builds every course by hand and the team is happy with it.
- A shared drive, when people only need to find a file rather than learn a task.

## Questions

**Q:** Can I generate from more than one source?

Yes. Each source is cited separately so reviewers can see which sentence came from where.

**Q:** What other formats can it produce?

A job aid, a presentation or a quiz from the same excerpt, each reviewed on its own.

**Q:** What if the policy changes later?

Regenerate from the new version and compare. The old lesson keeps its citation to the old version.
