# Set brand colors that keep lesson text readable

Approved color tokens and light/dark usage rules.

Updated October 27, 2026

## Apply a readable training palette

Setting brand colors applies your approved color tokens to headings, buttons and emphasis across selected lessons, while body text keeps enough contrast to read. Brand and operations leads at franchises and multi-site businesses use it when a rebrand reaches training and a first attempt made feedback unreadable. Elvina measures contrast for each real text and background pair, including captions over photos. Brand colors, logo and fonts from the Brand Kit are available now. Your accessibility standard and any exception remain your decision.

## What happens on the free demo

- Book 30 minutes. Pick a time with Elvina's team. The demo is free and runs on Zoom.
- Show the team your goal. Bring one role or one procedure. The team shows how Elvina would handle it, using sample materials.
- Agree on the next step. You leave with a plan for the first step and its price. Nothing reaches your team until you approve it.

## Who this is for, and when

A brand operations lead at a fitness franchise is rolling the new palette into training. The tokens are approved, but the first attempt turned quiz feedback into orange text on an orange button. She needs headings, buttons and emphasis to follow the palette, lesson text to stay readable, and contrast checked before 300 franchise employees see it.

## How it works in Elvina

Headings, buttons and emphasis use the brand palette while lesson text remains legible.

- The lead enters the approved tokens and the light and dark usage rules into Company Knowledge as the brand profile.
- Elvina applies the palette to headings, buttons and emphasis across the selected lessons and measures contrast for each actual text and background pairing.
- She reviews the contrast report, which flags the orange-on-orange quiz feedback and one caption on a photo.
- She assigns a darker token to the feedback text, confirms that correct and incorrect states also use icons and words, and publishes the theme.

## A worked example

A fictional franchisor, Ironclad Fitness Studios, has 12 approved tokens including Ember Orange, Slate, Chalk and Signal Green. The theme is applied to a 5-lesson front desk course. The rule says Ember Orange is for buttons and headings only, never for body text.

- Headings and primary buttons use Ember Orange; body text stays Slate on Chalk.
- Quiz feedback moved to Slate text with an icon and the word Correct or Incorrect, so color is no longer the only signal.
- The dark mode variant passed the contrast report after the caption token was swapped.

## What to check before relying on it

Measure contrast for actual combinations. Do not encode correct answers or status by color alone.

- Every text and background pairing in the lessons meets the contrast level your accessibility policy requires.
- No correct answer, status or warning is conveyed by color alone.
- The palette follows the written usage rules, including what each token may and may not be used for.
- Light and dark modes were both viewed on real lesson content, not only on a swatch page.

## Where a person stays in charge

Elvina applies tokens and measures contrast; it does not decide your accessibility standard or approve exceptions. A palette that passes on one slide can fail on a photo caption, so the report covers actual combinations, not theory. The brand lead confirms the theme on real screens before it reaches franchise learners.

## Who this is not for, and when another tool fits

### This is not the right fit if

- You need someone to set your accessibility standard for you.
- The palette itself is still being decided by your agency.
- You want correct answers marked by color alone.

### Another kind of tool may fit better

- An accessibility specialist, to choose the contrast level your policy requires.
- Your brand agency, to settle tokens and usage rules before training adopts them.

## Questions

**Q:** Can different courses use different palettes?

Yes. Brand profiles are assigned per course, which helps when a sub-brand has its own approved colors.

**Q:** What happens to existing lessons when I change a token?

Lessons using the profile are redrawn as drafts and the contrast report reruns; learners see nothing until you approve.

**Q:** Can light and dark modes use different tokens?

Yes. Enter the light and dark usage rules with the tokens, and each mode is checked on real lesson content. A caption that passes on light slides can fail on dark ones, so look at both before approving.
