# Compare LMS Platforms by the Work They Leave Your Team

A useful LMS comparison asks who builds the courses and how much work each platform leaves your team, not only which features it lists. This page is for owners, operations leads and HR managers at US companies with several locations.

Updated October 27, 2026

## Comparing LMS platforms, in short

An LMS comparison is only useful if it shows the work a platform leaves behind: who writes the courses, who assigns them and who follows up. Owners, operations leads and HR managers with several sites are the readers. Each platform in the tables is described from its own public pages, and Elvina appears as a separate row: an AI employee whose course drafts, approval, assignment and progress are available now.

It compares well-known platforms from their own public pages, checked on October 19, 2026, with Elvina as a separate row.

## What happens on the free demo

- Book 30 minutes. Pick a time with Elvina's team. The demo is free and runs on Zoom.
- Show the team your goal. Bring one role or one procedure. The team shows how Elvina would handle it, using sample materials.
- Agree on the next step. You leave with a plan for the first step and its price. Nothing reaches your team until you approve it.

## What to look for

Ask every vendor the same questions before comparing prices. The tables answer them from vendor pages as of October 19, 2026.

- Who it serves: the company size and audiences the vendor names.
- Who builds the courses: your staff, AI drafts they finish, or a ready-made library.
- Phone access: a native app, offline use, or a page in the phone's browser.
- SCORM and xAPI: whether your packages play and courses can leave in a standard format.
- Pricing model: active users, seats or a quote, and how turnover changes the count.
- What to confirm in a demo: who writes, updates, assigns and follows up.

## Where most tools stop

Every platform here hosts courses, assigns them and records completions, and most offer AI help with drafting. The open question is who turns your own procedures into lessons and keeps them current after a change. Ask in each demo who does that work.

## How Elvina approaches it

Elvina is an AI employee with a learning platform, so your staff do not write the courses. You add approved SOPs, checklists and recordings to Company Knowledge and name an owner for each. Creation Studio drafts lessons, job aids and quizzes from them, and nothing reaches staff before the owner approves. Your manager assigns programs by group, and staff open lessons in the Web workspace on a phone. Today our team runs these steps with you, and Elvina takes on each one as it is confirmed.

- Courses, quizzes, video lessons and translation from your sources (available now).
- Groups, assignment, progress and approval before publishing (available now).
- A first-week readiness check (available now); reminders and digests are planned, not available today.
- Answers to staff in Chat and scheduled reports to managers (planned, not available today).

## When another tool fits better

Each platform fits a different gap, and the table pairs it with the situation its own pages describe. Choose another tool for a native mobile app or an off-the-shelf course catalog; Elvina trains from your material. She does not certify anyone or replace required compliance training.

When each platform may fit better, from vendor pages as of October 19, 2026

| Platform | It may fit better when |
|---|---|
| TalentLMS | You want a self-serve LMS with AI course creation, ready-made courses and a free plan to start small |
| Docebo | A learning team runs formal programs for employees, customers and partners |
| 360Learning | Experts inside the company will write and update the courses |
| Absorb LMS | You train several audiences and need offline learning in an app |
| iSpring LMS | Your team will author its own courses and wants authoring and the LMS from one vendor |
| LearnUpon | An L&D owner wants an implementation consultant at launch |
| Trainual | You want processes, policies and training in one system your team maintains |
| Mitti, where EdApp now leads | Training should follow inspections and site operations |
| Elvina | Training must come from your own procedures and nobody has time to build it |

## A worked example

A fictional chain of seven optical stores hires an optician's assistant almost every month. The HR manager shortlists one LMS from the tables and Elvina, then runs the same test in both: checking a lens order at the counter.

- In the LMS, the office manager edits an AI draft into a lesson and sets up store groups.
- For Elvina, the lead optician records a walkthrough and adds the order checklist to Company Knowledge.
- Elvina drafts a lesson, a quiz and a counter job aid; the lead optician fixes one step and approves.
- The HR manager compares who did the work in each test and how a checklist change would reach every store.

## What Elvina does not do, and when another tool fits

### What Elvina does not do

- Offer a native mobile app: staff use the phone's browser.
- Sell a catalog of off-the-shelf courses.
- Certify anyone or replace required compliance training.

### Another platform fits better when

- You need a native app with offline lessons.
- Your team will author its own courses and wants the LMS from the same vendor.

## Questions

**Q:** What should an LMS comparison include?

Start with who builds the courses and what stays with your managers each week. Then compare phone access, SCORM and xAPI support so courses can move, and the pricing model: active users, seats or a quote. Feature lists matter less than that weekly work.

**Q:** Can our courses leave with us if we switch platforms?

Ask whether the platform plays the SCORM or xAPI packages you own, and whether your courses export in a standard format. Elvina exports approved courses as SCORM, xAPI or MP4 files, available now. Importing and playing packages built in other tools is not something we promise.

**Q:** Where do the vendor details on this page come from?

From each vendor's own public pages, opened on October 19, 2026 and listed under Sources. They are the vendors' statements, not our tests. Where the cited pages, reviewed October 19, 2026, did not confirm a feature, the table says so. Plans change, so confirm each point with the vendor before you decide.
