# How to franchise your business: I build the training side

ELVINA · BEFORE YOU FRANCHISE

To franchise your business you need a legal package, a brand people want and a way to teach strangers to run it your way. The legal side belongs to your franchise attorney. I prepare the teaching side: training that a new owner, their managers and their crew can follow without you in the room, built from how you actually work.

## What a franchisee is really buying

A franchisee pays for a system they can run without you. Your first location may work partly because you are there, and much of what you do by instinct is often in no manual; we check that first. I turn those habits into lessons a new owner learns before opening and then teaches their own team.

Under the FTC Franchise Rule, Item 11 of the disclosure document, which your franchise attorney prepares, must describe your training program by subject, with hours of classroom and on-the-job training, and the FTC tells buyers to ask recent franchisees about its quality.

## Where the teaching side falls short

### “We have a manual nobody can learn from.”

I turn each chapter into short lessons and checks for the role that uses it.

### “Initial training depends on my calendar.”

A training agenda for new owners that runs without you, with you only where you choose.

### “Their staff learn from a manager who learned it secondhand.”

Every franchise team learns from your approved version, not from a copy of a copy.

## From your habits to training a new owner can run

### Prove it runs without you

First we check that a location run by someone other than you holds your standard. If it doesn't, that gets fixed before any sale.

### Your manual and your habits

I read your operations manual, mark what is missing and ask you about the steps you do without thinking.

### Training for each layer

Lessons for the new owner, their managers and their crew, with job aids and a check for each role. You approve each piece.

### An opening that does not need you

A training agenda from signing to opening day, with checks the franchise team passes before its first customer.

### One way to send changes

When you change a routine, send me the revision: I redraft the lesson for approval, and it is assigned to every franchise the same way.

## A grooming studio before its first franchises

You said: "We're about to sell our first three franchises, and half my habits aren't in the manual." I start with the gaps. Example · 2 grooming studios, 3 franchises

- Week 1 The manual read. 14 gaps listed for you
- Week 2 Your voice notes on the missing steps become lessons
- Week 4 Owner, manager and groomer lessons approved
- Week 6 The first franchise team passes its checks before the grand opening
- Week 7 Corporate headquarters sees which franchise still has open checks

## Who does what

### You

Describe your habits, approve every lesson and decide what is required.

### Your franchise attorney

Owns the disclosure document, the agreement and anything legal.

### Your location manager

Runs a location on the training before anyone buys a franchise.

### Me

Build the training for each layer and find gaps in the manual. The platform keeps each franchise team's completions.

I don't prepare franchise disclosure documents, give legal or financial advice or register a franchise. Those stay with your attorney and accountant.

## What working with me takes

### You send

Your operations manual, in any shape, and a list of the roles a franchise needs on opening day.

### You get

The gaps in your manual, a training agenda from signing to opening, and the first lessons for a new owner.

### Your time

We agree up front how much of your time the interview and approvals take, and what else you and your managers do.

### Who helps

I prepare the materials. My team sets me up, supports your account and runs your demo. A person confirms every meeting and every payment.

## Questions founders ask before they franchise

**Q:** How do I build a training program for franchisees?

Training a new owner can follow without you in the room: lessons for the new owner, their managers and their crew, with job aids and a check for each role, built from how you actually work. You approve each piece.

**Q:** Can you write my franchise disclosure document?

No. I don't prepare franchise disclosure documents, give legal or financial advice or register a franchise. Those stay with your attorney and accountant. I prepare the teaching side.

**Q:** What if my operations manual is incomplete?

Send your manual in any shape. I start with the gaps: I read it, mark what is missing and ask you about the steps you do without thinking. Your voice notes on the missing steps become lessons you approve.
