# Check eligibility before looking for a certificate

The assigned course, your learner account and the completion rule your training owner set.

## When you need this

A learner who finished a course and needs proof of it for a manager, a client or a personnel file, often right before an audit or a job application. Elvina keeps a completion record for every assigned course in the Learning Platform; it does not issue certificates. A certificate from an outside training provider comes from that provider.

## Steps

The learner confirms the course reads complete in the Learning Platform and asks the training owner for the completion record. A certificate, where one is required, comes from whoever issues it, not from Elvina.

- In the Learning Platform, open My courses and select the course; check that the completion status reads complete, not in progress.
- If completion requires finishing the quiz or a manager sign-off, confirm both appear as done on the course page.
- Ask your training owner for the completion record of that course: the course title, the version you completed and the completion date.
- If a client or regulator asks for a certificate from an outside training provider, request it from that provider; Elvina does not issue or reissue it.

## What you should see

A fictional property management firm requires a completed Fair Housing Basics course for every leasing agent. Agent Tomas finished the lessons but his course page still says in progress. The training owner made the final quiz part of the completion condition, and Tomas had not yet finished it.

- The course page shows the quiz as not yet finished, which explains why the course still reads in progress.
- After he finishes the quiz, the course status changes to complete and his progress record shows the completion date; his answers and score are not kept.
- His manager adds that completion record, with the course title and date, to his personnel file; no certificate is involved.

## What to check before relying on it

If the course does not read complete, ask the training owner to check the completion rule. Elvina does not issue certificates or professional accreditation.

- The course status reads complete before anyone asks for proof of completion.
- Every completion condition set by the training owner is satisfied on the course page.
- The completion record shows the correct learner, course title, version and date.

## If it does not work

If it does not work: check that you are signed in as the learner who was assigned the course, since progress does not transfer between accounts. If the course is complete but the record looks wrong, ask the training owner to check the assignment. An Elvina completion record shows that you finished a course in your organization's program; it is not a certificate or a professional license.

## Questions people ask

**Q:** Can I get proof for a course I finished last year?

If the course and your assignment still exist in the Learning Platform, your completion record keeps the course title and the date you finished. Ask your training owner to share it.

**Q:** My name is misspelled in my completion record. Who fixes it?

Your profile name appears in the record, so ask your workspace administrator to correct the profile. A certificate from an outside training provider is corrected by that provider.
