# Edit learning content with a targeted correction

The current draft, exact correction and supporting source.

Updated October 27, 2026

## Make a targeted correction with context intact

Editing learning content is changing one fact in an approved lesson, such as who a request escalates to, without disturbing the rest of the material people already studied. It is for L&D and operations staff who get a one-line policy change and must apply it today. Editing any module, slide, text or quiz question by hand is available now, and Elvina shows only what moved plus the quiz items and job aids that mention the old fact. Each correction becomes a new revision, with the old one kept.

## What happens on the free demo

- Book 30 minutes. Pick a time with Elvina's team. The demo is free and runs on Zoom.
- Show the team your goal. Bring one role or one procedure. The team shows how Elvina would handle it, using sample materials.
- Agree on the next step. You leave with a plan for the first step and its price. Nothing reaches your team until you approve it.

## What you bring and what Elvina returns

| You bring | Elvina returns, for your approval | Status |
|---|---|---|
| A one-line policy change, such as a new escalation contact | The edited passage in the approved lesson, showing only the words that changed | available now |
| The quiz that still teaches the old escalation rule | That quiz answer and its feedback rewritten to match the new rule | available now |
| The policy owner who confirms the new fact | A new revision for that owner to approve, with the previous one kept | available now |

## Who this is for, and when

A learning and development specialist at a regional accounting firm gets a one-line note from the managing partner: escalations for client-data requests now go to the privacy officer, not the engagement manager. The lesson that teaches this is approved and assigned to 80 staff. She needs to change that one role reference and nothing else, and know whether the quiz still makes sense afterward.

## How it works in Elvina

A revised explanation changes the escalation role while retaining the rest of the approved procedure.

- She opens the approved lesson in Creation Studio, states the exact correction and links the updated Data Request Policy from Company Knowledge as support.
- Elvina applies the change to the explanation and produces a difference view showing only what moved.
- Elvina lists dependent items (quiz questions, a job aid, a narration line) that mention the old role and asks whether each should change.
- She approves the edit and the two dependent updates, and the new revision replaces the old one on the Learning Platform with the prior version retained.

## A worked example

A fictional firm, Northgate Advisory, has an approved lesson called 'Handling Client Data Requests', revision 2, assigned to all engagement staff. The correction changes the escalation contact from 'engagement manager' to 'privacy officer'. Quiz question 3 and a one-page checklist both reference the old contact.

- A difference view showing one changed sentence in the explanation and no other text touched.
- Quiz question 3's correct answer and feedback updated; the checklist updated; a narration line flagged for re-recording.
- Revision 3 published with a note listing which assigned staff completed revision 2 and may need the change pointed out.

## What to check before relying on it

Inspect the difference and any dependent questions. A local edit may invalidate examples elsewhere.

- The difference view shows only the intended change.
- Every dependent item that referenced the old text was either updated or consciously left alone.
- The supporting source for the correction is linked in the revision note.
- The prior revision remains available for reference.

## Where a person stays in charge

A targeted edit is still a content change. Elvina does not overwrite an approved version silently, and it does not decide whether learners who completed the old revision must redo it, the specialist and the policy owner decide. Narration or video segments that quote the old text need re-recording, which Elvina flags but does not perform without approval.

## Who this is not for, and when another tool fits

### This is not the right fit if

- The whole lesson is out of date and needs rebuilding, not a correction.
- You want approved content changed quietly with no record of the change.
- The policy owner has not confirmed the new fact yet.

### Another kind of tool may fit better

- A course library, when the topics are general skills rather than your own procedures.
- An instructional designer, for a large program with branching scenarios or live workshops.

## Questions

**Q:** Can I make the change without creating a new revision?

No. Any edit to approved content produces a new revision so the history stays honest. Small changes make small revisions.

**Q:** What if I only want to fix a typo?

Same process, smaller diff. Elvina will show that no dependent items are affected and the revision note can say 'typo'.

**Q:** Do learners who finished the old version have to retake it?

Not automatically. The revision note shows who completed the earlier version, and the specialist and the policy owner decide whether to point out the change or assign the lesson again.
