IN SHORT

Build a check that tests useful decisions

Assessment creation is writing questions that put a learner in a realistic situation and score the choice they make, rather than asking them to recite a rule. It suits team leads in service, support and operations whose people pass recall quizzes and still mishandle the real case. Elvina drafts scenario questions with answer feedback tied to your approved policy, and a person edits every item before learners see it, which is available now. A passing score stays a test result, not proof that someone can do the job.

Who this is for, and when

A customer-experience lead at a direct-to-consumer furniture brand is tired of quizzes that ask for definitions. Her agents can recite the shipping policy and still promise a delivery date the carrier has not confirmed. She wants an assessment that puts an agent in front of a realistic ticket, asks what they would say, and explains why each option helps or harms the customer.

02

How it works in Elvina

A service assessment asks how to handle an uncertain delivery date, with feedback for each answer.

  • She writes the learning objective and links the delivery policy and the escalation guide from Company Knowledge as the basis for correct behavior.
  • In Creation Studio, Elvina drafts scenario questions where each option is a plausible agent reply, with feedback tied to a policy passage.
  • She reviews wording, removes trick options, and sets a scoring rubric that rewards honest uncertainty over confident guesses.
  • The assessment is attached to the lesson in the Learning Platform and previewed from a learner's perspective before assignment.
03

A worked example

At a fictional furniture brand, Hollis & Vale, a support team of 22 agents handles delivery questions. The lead uses the Delivery Communication Guide and a Carrier Status Glossary as sources. The assessment covers one situation: a customer asks when a sofa will arrive while the carrier scan shows 'delayed, no new ETA'.

  • Four scenario questions, each with three agent replies to choose from and feedback that quotes the guide's rule on unconfirmed dates.
  • A rubric that marks 'I will confirm with the carrier and call you back by 5 p.m.' as correct and 'It should be there Thursday' as a policy violation.
  • Two questions flagged by the reviewer as ambiguous were rewritten before the team saw them.
04

What to check before relying on it

Pilot ambiguous questions with a reviewer. A quiz score is not the same as observed readiness.

  • Each question describes a situation an agent actually faces, not a definition to recall.
  • Every feedback message points to a specific passage in an approved source.
  • A reviewer has piloted the assessment and signed off on the ambiguous items.
  • Completions are reported alongside the lesson version they belong to.
05

Where a person stays in charge

A passing score shows that an agent chose well on paper. It does not prove they will do it on a live call, and detailed quiz answers and scores are not stored, so a completion is never labeled readiness. The lead approves every item before learners see it, and observed performance on real tickets remains a manager's judgment.

WHO IT IS NOT FOR

Who this is not for, and when another tool fits

This is not the right fit if

  • You need a formal exam that licenses people for a regulator.
  • Your policy is unclear and nobody owns the right answer yet.
  • You want a score to decide who gets hired or let go.

Another kind of tool may fit better

  • A testing provider, when the exam must be proctored or carry legal weight.
  • A supervisor watching live work, when you need to see someone do the task on the floor.
