ELVINA · COMPARE
A Waybook Alternative for Turning SOPs Into Training
The right Waybook alternative depends on what is missing: Waybook keeps your SOPs and teaches them as documents, while Elvina turns approved SOPs into lessons, job aids and checks. This page is for owners and operations managers who already have written procedures and still train every new hire on them manually.

A Waybook alternative, in short
A Waybook alternative is worth a look when your SOPs are written and approved but new hires still learn by shadowing. Waybook keeps those SOPs as a company playbook and teaches people by having them read and test on the documents. Elvina instead drafts training from the approved SOPs: a short lesson per role, a job aid and a check, each signed off by a named approver before staff see it, available now. Answers to staff in chat are planned, not available today.
It compares Waybook and Elvina using Waybook's own pages, checked on October 19, 2026.
What happens on the free demo
- Book 30 minutes. Pick a time with Elvina's team. The demo is free and runs on Zoom.
- Show the team your goal. Bring one role or one procedure. The team shows how Elvina would handle it, using sample materials.

The short version
Choose Waybook if you want one playbook where SOPs are written, owned, versioned and read, and where training runs on those same documents. Choose Elvina if the documents exist and you want someone else to build role training from them, with a person approving every piece first.
| What you need | Waybook | Elvina |
|---|---|---|
| A home for SOPs with owners and revision history | Yes, the product is built around this | No. Elvina keeps the approved copy she trains from, not your SOP library |
| Training on those SOPs | Learning paths and tests that run on the documents | Separate lessons, job aids and checks drafted from them, available now |
| Who builds and updates the training | Your own authors, with AI drafting, AI tests and an optional migration team | Our team with you today; Elvina takes over each step once it is confirmed |
| Sign-off before staff see it | An approval process on the Pro and Enterprise plans | A named approver for every piece, available now |
| Answers when staff have a question | Waybook Ask, from your documents with a link to the source | Planned, not available today: in Chat, from approved knowledge only |
| Evidence of who is ready | Read confirmations on Pro and Enterprise, plus test and completion reports | Completions per person and a first-week readiness check, available now; detailed quiz answers are not stored |
Facts about Waybook as of October 2026, from its public pages: Waybook what is waybook, Waybook home, Waybook AI page, Waybook pricing, Waybook features.
What Waybook is built for
Waybook's own pages describe a company playbook platform. It is one place to document how the business runs, train the team on it and prove that people have read it. SOPs and policies are step-by-step documents, grouped into subjects and assigned to roles, teams or locations. Revision history comes on every plan, and review dates, an approval process and full version history come on Pro. Training runs on the same documents; Waybook says it is not a course library, because the training is your own processes.
- Learning paths that set the order of documents and offline tasks for each new hire.
- Tests inside the documents, which AI can write from the document itself.
- A searchable knowledge base, plus Waybook Ask for answers in chat with the source linked.
Where Elvina is different
Elvina is not a second place to write SOPs. Waybook trains people on the documents themselves; Elvina builds a separate set of materials for each role from those documents. You add the approved version of a procedure to Company Knowledge and name who signs off on it. Creation Studio then drafts a short lesson for each role that uses it, a job aid to use while doing the work and a check, all available now. Nothing reaches staff until the approver has reviewed every piece. Your manager assigns the lessons by role or group on the Learning Platform and sees where each person stands. This work is done today by our team with you on the platform, and Elvina takes on each part as it is confirmed.
- Video lessons with an avatar and translated versions of approved lessons (available now).
- Export as SCORM, xAPI or MP4 for a learning system you already run (available now).
- A readiness check in week one (available now); finishing reminders are planned, not available today.
- Answers to staff questions in Chat, using approved knowledge only (planned, not available today).
When Waybook is the better choice
Waybook is the better choice when you need the playbook itself: one system of record where SOPs are written, owned, reviewed and versioned. It suits roles where reading a process and passing a test on it is enough training. It also fits if staff need chat answers from your documents now, because answers in Elvina's Chat are planned, not available today, not live. Elvina does not store or version your SOPs as a system of record; editing, owners and history stay in your playbook.
- You want one searchable home and editor for SOPs, policies and how-tos.
- Repeatable checklists should sit inside the process documents.
- An author on your team keeps every document current.
- Read confirmations and an audit log matter more to you than lessons.
Moving over or running both
If Waybook works as your playbook, there is nothing to move. Keep it as the system of record for SOPs. Export the current version of the procedures a role has to learn, add them to Company Knowledge and name an approver. Elvina drafts the training, the approver signs off and your manager assigns it to each new hire on the Learning Platform. When a Waybook document changes, bring in the new version so the lessons built on it are redrafted for approval. People look things up in Waybook and learn them in Elvina.
