IN SHORT

A learning analytics overview, in short

A learning analytics overview is a summary for one cohort and date range that separately counts learners who were assigned training, started it or completed it, each over its own denominator, with the refresh time on screen. HR directors and operations leads use it to answer a board or an owner without overstating how trained the staff are. A site with no assignments shows as missing rather than as zero. Assignments and completions by person in the Web workspace are available now; quiz scores are not stored. Explaining the numbers in chat is planned, not available today.

What happens on the free demo

  1. Book 30 minutes. Pick a time with Elvina's team. The demo is free and runs on Zoom.
  2. Show the team your goal. Bring one role or one procedure. The team shows how Elvina would handle it, using sample materials.
  3. Agree on the next step. You leave with a plan for the first step and its price. Nothing reaches your team until you approve it.

Who this is for, and when

An HR director at a senior living operator with fourteen communities is asked by the board whether staff are trained. She has been burned by dashboards that showed green because the denominator was wrong. She needs assigned, started and completed counted separately, with a visible refresh time and a clear line between missing data and zero activity.

02

How it works in Elvina

An overview shows assigned learners, starters and completers with separate denominators and refresh time.

  • Open Analytics in the Web workspace, choose Overview, and select the cohort and date range.
  • Confirm the metric definitions Elvina displays before reading any number.
  • Elvina shows assigned learners, starters and completers with separate denominators and the refresh time.
  • Drill into one community, then export the summary for the meeting.
  • If a board member questions a definition, point to the one displayed on screen; explanations in Chat are planned, not available today.
03

A worked example

A fictional operator, Willow Creek Senior Living, defines the cohort as care aides hired since January and the course as Fall Prevention Essentials. The HR director runs the overview for the second quarter across all fourteen communities.

  • The overview reported 312 assigned, 260 started and 198 completed, each with its own denominator.
  • Two communities showed no activity because assignments had never been created there, and Elvina labeled them as missing rather than zero.
  • The board memo separated communities with no data from communities with low completion.
04

What to check before relying on it

Distinguish missing records from zero activity. Completion is not evidence of on-the-job competence.

  • Each metric names its denominator.
  • The refresh time is visible on screen and in the export.
  • Missing records are distinguishable from zero activity.
  • The cohort filter matches the HR roster you intended.
  • The exported summary contains no learner-level rows unless authorized.
05

Where a person stays in charge

Completion is not evidence of on-the-job competence, and Elvina does not claim otherwise. The overview uses your metric definitions; it does not invent them. HR roster data appears only after our team connects your HR system. A person reviews before numbers go to a board or regulator.

WHO IT IS NOT FOR

Who this is not for, and when another tool fits

This is not the right fit if

  • You need proof that people can do the job, not that they finished a course.
  • Your HR roster is not connected and you expect numbers measured against headcount.
  • You want the dashboard to choose metric definitions for you.

Another kind of tool may fit better

  • Your current authoring tool, if one designer already builds every course by hand and the team is happy with it.
  • A shared drive, when people only need to find a file rather than learn a task.
