IN SHORT

Removing a narrated slide, in short

Removing a slide from a narrated deck takes out the picture together with its narration segment and caption block, so no orphaned audio plays over the wrong frame. Instructional designers use it when a duplicate recap or an outdated slide sits in a deck that already has a voice track. Elvina shows the linked narration and the transitions on either side, then renumbers the slides and re-times the captions. Editing slides by hand and narrated video lessons are available now. Videos exported earlier have to be exported again.

Who this is for, and when

An instructional designer at a contact-center outsourcer finds a duplicate recap slide in an escalation etiquette deck that has already been narrated. Deleting the picture alone would leave twenty seconds of orphaned audio and misaligned subtitles. He wants the slide, its narration and its captions removed together.

02

How it works in Elvina

A duplicate recap slide is removed from a draft and its narration is excluded from the revised sequence.

  • Select the slide in Creation Studio and choose Remove.
  • Elvina shows the linked narration segment, subtitle block and transitions on either side.
  • Confirm; the narration is excluded from the revised sequence, subtitles are re-timed and slides are renumbered.
  • Play the deck end to end and send it for approval.
03

A worked example

A fictional provider, Northgate Contact Solutions, has an eighteen-slide deck called Escalation Etiquette. Slide fourteen repeats the recap from slide twelve, with its own twenty-two seconds of narration. The designer removes it before the video export.

  • The deck dropped to seventeen slides with continuous numbering.
  • Twenty-two seconds of narration were excluded and subtitle timing shifted accordingly.
  • The QA lead played the full sequence and found no gap between slides thirteen and fourteen.
04

What to check before relying on it

Check numbering, subtitles and timings. Removing the picture alone can leave an orphaned audio segment.

  • Slide numbers run without a gap.
  • No audio segment plays without a matching slide.
  • Subtitles align with the remaining narration.
  • Transitions on both sides still work.
  • Total runtime updated in the deck summary.
05

Where a person stays in charge

Removing a slide does not edit its neighbors or pull the slide out of videos already exported and delivered. Elvina does not decide which of two similar slides is the redundant one. The deck stays in draft until a person approves. Re-export any MP4 that used the old sequence.

WHO IT IS NOT FOR

Who this is not for, and when another tool fits

This is not the right fit if

  • You need the slide pulled out of videos already delivered to learners.
  • You want Elvina to decide which of two similar slides is redundant.
  • You want to cut a finished video file rather than change the deck behind it.

Another kind of tool may fit better

  • Your current authoring tool, if one designer already builds every course by hand and the team is happy with it.
  • A shared drive, when people only need to find a file rather than learn a task.
