A reusable course template, in short
A reusable course template is the skeleton of a course that already works, kept as fixed sections and empty fields so the next topic starts from the same teaching structure. It suits training coordinators who must build several similar courses, for example a series of safety topics, without carrying one topic's details into another. Elvina extracts the outline from your chosen course and strips its subject matter; building new courses from that template is available now. Each new course still needs its own source and its own approval.

What happens on the free demo
- Book 30 minutes. Pick a time with Elvina's team. The demo is free and runs on Zoom.
- Show the team your goal. Bring one role or one procedure. The team shows how Elvina would handle it, using sample materials.
- Agree on the next step. You leave with a plan for the first step and its price. Nothing reaches your team until you approve it.
What you bring and what Elvina returns
| You bring | Elvina returns, for your approval | Status |
|---|---|---|
| A course that already teaches well, chosen by the trainer | Its outline kept as a template: fixed sections, empty fields, no topic details | available now |
| The next topic, such as ladder safety, with its approved source | A new course draft on that topic, built on the saved structure | available now |
| A reviewer for each new course built from the template | Every new course held as a draft until its named reviewer approves it | available now |
Who this is for, and when
A training coordinator at a metal fabrication plant has one course that works: the forklift refresher. Every lesson has an objective, a source citation, an explanation, a practice task, feedback and a reviewer's initials. He wants to reuse that skeleton for eight more safety topics without dragging forklift-specific content into a lesson about lockout-tagout.
How it works in Elvina
A reusable outline contains objective, source, explanation, practice, feedback and reviewer fields.
- He selects the forklift course in Creation Studio and asks Elvina to extract its structure as a template.
- Elvina proposes an outline with fixed sections and clearly marked editable fields (objective, source, explanation, practice, feedback, reviewer) and strips topic content.
- He confirms which fields are locked and which each course author must fill, and names a default reviewer role.
- New courses built from the template on the Learning Platform inherit the structure and show empty fields until an author completes them.
A worked example
A fictional plant, Ironbridge Fabrication, runs safety training for 160 shop-floor employees. The reference course is 'Forklift Operation Refresher', reviewed by the safety manager. The coordinator wants a template for eight topics starting with lockout-tagout, using the Plant Safety Manual as the source for each.
- A template with six fixed sections per lesson, a required source field, and a reviewer sign-off field that cannot be left blank.
- The lockout-tagout course drafted from the template with no forklift language carried over.
- A visible warning on any template-built lesson whose source field points to a document not yet approved.
What to check before relying on it
Keep reusable structure separate from policy-specific content. Reusing a template must not carry stale claims into a new course.
- The template contains structure and field labels only; no forklift-specific text remains.
- A course built from the template cannot be marked ready with an empty source or reviewer field.
- Changing the template later does not silently alter courses already built from it.
- Each field's purpose is described so a new author knows what to write.
Where a person stays in charge
A template ensures consistent structure, not correct content. Elvina will not fill the source or explanation fields from memory, and it flags any inherited text that looks topic-specific. The safety manager still reviews each new course; reusing an approved skeleton does not transfer the earlier approval.
Who this is not for, and when another tool fits
This is not the right fit if
- You have no course that works yet to copy the structure from.
- Every course you build needs a different shape.
- You hope a template will make the content correct without review.
Another kind of tool may fit better
- A course library, when the topics are general skills rather than your own procedures.
- An instructional designer, for a large program with branching scenarios or live workshops.
